OUR FOUNDER
Ukari Figgs is a former professional basketball player, coach, and engineer who has
made a significant impact both on and off the court. She is a native of Georgetown,
Kentucky and grew up in the New Zion community.
Figgs is probably best known for her basketball career, where she was able to win a
champion at each level high school, college and professional. She was named Miss
Basketball and won a state title for Scott County’s in 1995. She went on to play college
basketball at Purdue University. In 1999, she led the Purdue Boilermakers to an NCAA
Championship, earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award. Later that
year, she graduated from Purdue University with a Mechanical Engineering degree.
Following her success in college, Figgs played five years in the Women’s National
Basketball Association. The Los Angeles Sparks drafted her in the 1999. During her
WNBA career, she played for the Sparks, Portland Fire, and Houston Comets, winning a
WNBA Championship as the starting point guard for the Sparks in 2001.
In addition to her accomplishments in basketball, Figgs pursued a career in engineering
at Kaiser Taulbee Associates, Caterpillar and Toyota Motor Manufacturing. She has
balanced coaching and engineering roles with being a mom.
Ukari remains a role model for young athletes, exemplifying the balance of academic
and athletic excellence, and continues to inspire others through her contributions to
sports, engineering and the community. Her son, Kasen, has helped with the food
baskets since he was able to walk. He enjoys helping his mom support families in their
community.
Annual Food Basket Program
Help us support families in need by providing them with food baskets for the holidays! December 14, 2024
OUR PROGRAMS
The Holiday Food Basket Program is designed to support families in need during the Christmas break, ensuring children have access to nutritious meals while they are out of school. Many children rely on school meals as a primary source of nourishment , and during the holiday season, families may struggle to provide enough food on their own. Our program provides food baskets filled with mostly non perishable items, helping families maintain stability and celebrate the season without the added worry of hunger. By easing this burden, we aim to bring comfort and joy to households during the holiday season.
